How to give a massage on a first date

December 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

Before I became a massage therapist, I had of course had some familiarity with massage, both giving and being on the recieving end. One of them was when I was invited to watch the movie “Amelie” with a masseuse I had met. I can’t promise that this would work for you, but she successfully seduced me with some seemingly innocent massage that night. I later met two guys who in that same month had been seduced with the movie Amelie by non-massage therapists, so my best guess is that all of these ladies had read the same issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. This is how you do it:

First, set the stage for massage in advance. Well in advance.

To make a date comfortable with the idea of recieving a massage from you, you must have in advance hinted at both skills and interest in massage. Giving a hand massage is a great way to sneak it in at the restaurant, when you are still hanging out in public. Talk about how you go to get massages regularly, or have a freemassagetips.com DVD on the coffee table. If it doesnt seem like it is part of what you already do, it probably won’t happen. I don’t even feel unethical about suggesting this to you - I want you to make massage a part of your life.

Second, offer to do massage during the movie.

Massaging during movies makes a lot of sense, for couples and friends alike. You are already sitting there, why not take turns rubbing each others shoulders? Read my articles on TV massage to figure out how to squeeze in an hour of massage into your life every night.

Think about your date. Depending on the person, you should chose from these two ways of bringing it up: First, you can offer to massage, and after a while ask if they want to swap, OR you could ask before the massage starts if they want to take turns massaging.

The way you do it, is that you take turns sitting on the floor in front of each other. The person on the couch massages for a while, and hopefully, you can take turns.

Third, make certain that if you are taking turns, don’t work too long at a time.

If you have created this experience succesfully so far, make certain to take turns every 10-15 minutes. I once massaged someone for 40 minutes, and she got too relaxed to want to massage me in return. Big disappointment, as I felt shortchanged.

Anyway, I promised a story. This girl massaged me at first, as we took turns sitting on the floor in front of each other. Amelie is a very nice romantic movie, and it got me into a nice place with the wine we were imbibing. The third time it was her turn to massage me, she offered to massage my feet instead of my shoulders(She owned the movie and had already seen it before, so it made sense that she would be looking at me). Facing me instead of the movie, she looked into my eyes the entire time. And guess what:

We didn’t even finish the movie. I was tricked. :) Now, if you have the intention of getting something, don’t get your hopes up. Actually, I think it has only happened once since then for me. But you are creating a lot of good feelings in any evening if you do this. Thats what it is about.

Quick disclaimer: Im not a psychologist with superpowers, so I cannot influence any reader to not have dumb intentions with a massage on a first date through this medium. For years, I have always swapped massages with friends I have had over, be it dates or just friends. It makes an impression, to have taken a person to a place emotionally where they are having romantic feelings(which touch would naturally do) and then not taking it to the next step.

Please, share your massage story with me, and read some articles on how to give massage in front of the TV so that you have skills to match for this special evening.

In conclusion, be happy that the massage happens in the first place, and understand how cool it is to have recieved a hour of massage during a two hour movie. Without paying for it.
