TV Massage Technique #4: Using your knuckles.

If you have massaged before, you probably have used your knuckles. I can’t add much here, as most things are all too intuitive.

Two sets of knuckles.

So, there are two sets of knuckles you can use. First, the ones you knock on doors with, and second, being the ones you would punch someone with. (believe me, I tried very hard to find another use to explain those knuckles with).

Using your knuckes is fun. And there are a few variations to use here. I hope that this entry provides you with ideas, so that you understand that you can improvise your own techniques(and you should have a good guinea pig to tell you if a certain thing you try feels good or not). And with this improvisation, I mean when you are NOT using you knuckes.

“Door knocking knuckle” variations:

The use of knuckles is more than merely resting your hands. there are things you can do with your knuckles, that you cannot do with your hands. Move your hands as if you would knock on a table, as opposed to a door. Try some of these variations:

* With you knuckles in contact with the body, roll your hands in a range of motion where in the beginning of the motion, only your index fingers knuckles touch the body, to where all of the fingers touch the body, and finally where the little fingers knuckle come in contact with the body. Like a see-saw.

*With your fingers still curled, open them as far from each other as you can, and do the same thing. This feels VERY good, for such a brief description.

“Punching knuckle” variations:

For this to work, you have to lean forward a little bit, and apply downward pressure with you knuckles. You can rotate and shift them around as I described above. But there is another thing you can try.

While applying the downward pressure with your knuckles, you can with the length of the finger which is in contact with the body(between these knuckles we have referred to) apply pressure FORWARD, away from yourself. You might only be able to do this with one hand at a time, depending on how the recipient is sitting, else they might swing forward as you apply your pressure.

If you can keep your knuckles and fingers stationary and anchored on the body of the recipient, but move your wrist forward, something interesting happens with your hand.

Stretching your hand

Using this technique, you can stretch the back of your hand(the opposite side of the palm). Try it, by placing your knuckle against your other hands palm, and try to move your hand forward. You should feel a slight pull. This is exciting to explain, because I am hinting that you can perform motions that not only rest your hand, but can also stretch them.
